Placing Free Personal Advertising
The Shopper publishes classified ads from individuals for the purpose of selling personal items at no charge. An individual may submit no more than 2 free classified ads per week, with a limit of 25 words per ad. Multiple items may be included in the same ad, but the whole ad will be rejected if it includes items prohibited from free classifieds. There are a few specific categories of items that will not be accepted for free classifieds, which are listed below. If the item(s) you wish to sell do not qualify for a free ad, we will gladly place a small business ad at our standard rate of $7.35 per column inch.
The following ad types will not be accepted for free ads:
Farmgrown or homegrown products (hay, straw, animals, produce, etc.)
Animals of any kind, unless they are being given away for free
Bulk quantities of used items (windows, barn boards, material, etc.)
Vehicle parts of any kind (except tires, no more than 2 sets)
Individuals may place a free ad to sell a used vehicle.Bus trips or event tickets
Hand made crafts and furniture
Farm or business equipment
Collectibles of any kind
Firewood
Any new item(s) of any kind
Work wanted or services offered
Real estate rentals of any kind
Free ads for yard and garage sales may include only the date, time, and address of sale. No specific items will be listed in the ad. If you want to list specific items offered at your sale, you will need to purchase a business display ad at $7.35 per column inch.
Free ads are placed in The Shopper in the order they are received. With that in mind, it would be best to have your ad copy to us by the end of the day on Friday for next Thursday edition. Submit free ads either in person, U.S. mail, e-mail, or telephone. If using e-mail, please use the form below.
Deadline for free personal advertising is Monday by 5:00 p.m.
